Exciting Events - Mark your Calenders
Wednesday, September 25, 7:00 p.m.
Open House

This is the night when we kick off all our upcoming classes and events. Hopefully we will have all our samples made and you can sign up for the classes of your choice. We will be holding this event in the Armoury Hall (705 Mark Ave.) so we will have more room to mix and mingle.
I am very excited to have Debora Barlow from Saskatoon as our special guest this year. Debora is a very accomplished long arm quilter, but that is only the beginning. She also makes very innovative art quilts as well as traditional ones.
For our Open House, Debora is going to bring a trunk show of some of her masterpieces. Be ready to be truly amazed! She is also going to do a talk on what judges look for when judging at a quilt show. She is very capable of this as she has completed the judging program for the Canadian Quilters Association. In her talk she will also talk about the elements and principles of design.
We will conclude the evening with coffee, punch and a dessert buffet. I hope you will be able to attend, this is a wonderful opportunity to see and hear from such a knowledgable quilter!

Saturday and Sunday, October 5 and 6
Workshops with Monika Kinner-Whalen

Monika is a full time fibre artist. She has been creating prairie thread painting for exhibit and sale and teaching for the past four years. I am very excited that she has agreed to come to Moosomin to share some of her talent.
She is going to teach us 2 different workshops. You can do either one or both. I would recommend both if you are able.
Saturday October 5   10:00-4:00
The first day she is going to teach us a beginner thread work class where we will learn the basics of freemotion embroidery. We get to play all morning and then after lunch she  will have a project for us to try out our new skills!
Sunday October 6   10:00-4:00
Now we will have fun trying out  those skills to make Quilted Postcards. What a terrific way to try even the most challenging techniques because they are small projects. All these skills can also be applied to other quilting projects.
Lunch  will be provided each day. All you need to do is come and have fun!!
For more information on these classes, contact us at the store or follow this link to Monika's blog and also see pictures of her work.

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn a new skill that has not been offered here before. I hope you are able to take advantage of it. Please let us know as soon as possible as I expect these will fill up quickly.
